The GCSC offers an excellent environment for young and established scholars alike. We encourage applications from early career researchers (doctoral researchers and postdocs) from around the world working in the humanities and social sciences on topics related to the study of culture.
Our members follow the GCSC’s curriculum and mentoring system, contribute to one or more of our Research Areas, benefit from our teaching centre and career service and are embedded in our international network, which enables them to complete high-quality PhD projects in three years.
We also allow for temporary memberships, enabling visiting scholars to take part in our curriculum.
GCSC research team members or scholarship holders are offered the same opportunities as other members, with the extra benefit of a monthly income at 65% TV-H 13 (i.e. between approximately € 2.075 and € 2.300 - gross salary) or a grant of approximately €1.300. As of 2012, we plan to give out up to 13 research team positions for PhD candidates every year to the most qualified applicants, provided funding will be granted. Alternatively, we will be able to provide scholarships. Postdoctoral researchers with a proven record of academic excellence are invited to apply for a postdoctoral research team position or scholarship.
Research team position or scholarships are advertised every winter on our website and in other relevant media. The deadline for applications is in early March for October entry. We strongly encourage international applications. Should you have any questions regarding the application process, please contact us.
Additionally, part-time job opportunities for doctoral students who would like to join the GCSC team are offered, subject to availability. Vacancies are advertised on this page, in our newsletter and other relevant media.
